This was my first collection of songs that I had done for about 5 years, after a hiatus from playing music. These songs were in large part inspired by the beautiful scenery I found in Arizona after moving here in 2001.
This CD represents my return to music as well as to recording. My recordings are now all done using a personal computer rather than tape (which I used in my recording studio "Meaty Music"). I not only had to work on getting some chops back, but also had to learn a new recording medium. I think the songs turned out great, and I hope you do too!
So why this name for a CD? I was 45 years old when I recorded these songs. I'll let you figure out what the Hot Shot means. One meaning could be that a person is a marksman, and that's why I used the period in front of the 45.
Here's what my friend Tom W. says about some of the songs on this CD:
"You could be in Satch's [Joe Satriani] band, but you'd have to hold back so as not to upstage him. No clichés to be heard in your tunes - even the I IV V progression is done in an original manner. Lots of different guitar tones in each tune -- I like that too."
"RAM n Hphpryth - interesting sound effects and spooky delay. I know what RAM is, but what's n Hphpryth? An anagram maybe?"
"Great use of panning, especially on Touch It, and good sound quality on everything."
"I like how you vary your main melody lines -- much like classical composers do. Kitt Peak's a good example of that."
